Position Overview
The Clinical therapist will provide outpatient individual and group therapy to clients of Bright Horse Counseling, in Brentwood and/or via Telehealth. Clinical therapy services include treatment of adults, adolescents, couples and families. Treatment specialties may include: DBT, children, couples, trauma, EMDR, family, etc.

Job Description
Bright Horse Counseling provides therapeutic counseling services to relieve suffering, restore connections, and empower individuals, families, and communities to thrive. Our vision is to normalize therapy and eliminate the stigma that prevents us from engaging in regular mental health care. We work for a future where we all feel better and live well, together.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling, social work, or related fields and
- Active license (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.) in the State of Tennessee (may be provisionally or fully licensed). A copy must be provided to Bright Horse Counseling.
- Available to hold at least 25 patient sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Bright Horse Counseling.
- Available to provide therapy sessions or group sessions
- at least one week-night for 3 hours and
- at least 3 hours on either Saturday or Sunday
Other Qualification Preferences
- Strong preference for candidates with previous training in one or more of the following:
- DBT (10-day training, skills group facilitation, participation on a DBT consult team, etc.)
- EMDR
- Brainspotting
- Somatic therapies
- Treatment of SUD from family systems model
- Couples/Relationship Counseling
- DBT (10-day training, skills group facilitation, participation on a DBT consult team, etc.)
- DBT (10-day training, skills group facilitation, participation on a DBT consult team, etc.)
- EMDR
- Brainspotting
- Somatic therapies
- Treatment of SUD from family systems model

- Experience and passion for trauma-informed care

- At least one-year experience providing therapy in either
- graduate internship
- post-Master’s work
Hours
Work hours and schedule may vary depending on patient and Bright Horse Counseling needs. Hours include some nights and/or weekends. Therapists are not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that the Clinical Therapist will be available to hold at least 25 patient sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Bright Horse Counseling. Clinical Therapists must be available to provide therapy sessions or group sessions on both:
- at least one week-night for 3 hours
- Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling, social work, or related fields and
Patient sessions are held in the offices of Bright Horse Counseling or via Telehealth.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform on-site (or telehealth) clinical counseling services to patients of Bright Horse Counseling, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work is required.
- Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Bright Horse Counseling.
- Respond to patients’ requests for service or calls within 24 hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, etc. or through the Bright Horse Counseling website. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such patients.
- Communicate with a patient’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.
- Timely complete written records for each patient including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time-to-time by Bright Horse Counseling or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the patient within a timely fashion (by Friday of each week). Keep patient files accurate and up to date.
- Charge and collect payments from patients for services provided consistent with the policy and rate for such services as established by Bright Horse Counseling.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training as directed by Bright Horse Counseling.
- Participate in business and marketing activities as assigned by Bright Horse Counseling.
- Conduct counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Bright Horse Counseling. Be respectful of, cooperative, and collaborative with co-workers and community providers.
- Other duties which may be assigned by Bright Horse Counseling.
Compensation and Benefits
Clinical Therapists will be compensated depending on level of licensure and experience. Total compensation is comprised of:
- clinical session payments
- administrative time
- bonus structures

At this time Bright Horse Counseling is not offering health insurance or retirement benefits. We are open to negotiating a staff stipend to alleviate the burden of health insurance.
